Tearless Cry and Hopes

Author: Ophelia

I still remember vividly the day we beat Hull City 6-1. The only goal we conceded that night had caused these butterflies in my stomach. I knew at that moment we would have problems with that sort of defence. This early morning of mine, Liverpool was lost again -fourth in successive games- and left me wondering why I did not support Tenerife from the first place?! I can not even shade a single tear. I was too devastated to do so. It is like being trapped in a nightmare and out of exhaustion wished to wake up soon. But no it is not a dream. This is for real.

Why Tenerife? I will mention names: Rafael Benítez, Luis García Sanz, and Mikel Alonso. The first two have brought joys and tears throughout their involvement with Liverpool, and although I do not agree with all Rafa’s decision I still admire him and expecting him to stay many years to come. In Mikel case, he is former Kop’s Idol Xabi’s big brother. Yes you hear me, I am still unable to cope that he actually left us for that Madrid (I love you though Mayra) so this is something more personal. And if you think it is a sad gesture, wait until you experience a similar lost!

And with all respect to the Tenerife fans out there, they do not have to deal with two estranged owners that we, painstakingly, must aware of every day and that people around the world did not expect too much from their club.

In the middle of tearless cry, I managed to imagine someone -with a heart and a brain- to take over the club. To be the warrior who released us from the two owners’ dungeon and killed the dragon. Our current performance is not happening for no reason. Since Gillett Jr-Hicks took over the club, problems are escalating and I believe our recent issues are only the tip of the iceberg which ready to erupt or break itself and destroy everything.

However, in the middle of chaotic scenes of rocky defence nightmares and injury prone (Dan Agger and Fabio Aurelio early in the season, now Stevie G and Fernando Torres), there are few things emerged to ease the pains and remind me not to lose any hopes.

Had not Fabio Aurelio got injured in the season’s break, Emiliano Insúa would not get into regular team and Diego Maradona might not even notice him for the Argentina national squad. Losing Fernando Torres is unbearable as much as losing Stevie G for the similar reason, their beings in the squad alone able to elevate the confidence, yet against Lyon David Ngog showed what he is capable of. Yes he is not Fernando Torres, but there is only one Torres anyway.Whilst Dan Agger’s eagerness to prolong his contract had assured me that we can count on him and although we conceded two goals this morning I found what we are missing since the early of the season. Daniel Agger!

Above of all, what made my heart so warm and put a smile on my face throughout the dark night, was Martin Kelly. He is 19 years old only, but looking at his performance against Lyon it is like he is a first choice of Right Back for years. I was so overwhelmed by the sight of him, and had not Glen Johnson suffered an injury before the game, he might be ended up in the bench. And I am not the only one who were astounded by this youngster because I and loads of fans voted him as our Man of the Match. Way to go Kelly!

I do know that in life there are ups and downs. Now we are in the downs but somehow by looking these youngster keep progressing, I know and I believe we will arise from the crumbles. Like a phoenix throughout its rebirth process, from ashes to shine beautifully.
